Canada Terms & Conditions

Terms and Conditions for Canadian Orders

For Canadian customers, now is a great time to import sterling silver jewelry from the United States at an amazing value. The frequently asked questions below will explain the terms and conditions that apply to orders shipped to Canada, as well as some helpful resources for Canadian customers. Please see our Order/Shipping Info page for additional Terms and Conditions that apply to your order.

Please note that Canadian duties and taxes will apply and will be due when you receive your order. This is in addition to the amount you pay to MMA International for your merchandise and shipping. It is the customer's sole responsibility to pay all applicable costs associated with importing the merchandise.

How Do I Set Up An Account?

MMA International supplies jewelry only to business customers for resale. To set up an account with us, you must provide your Business Number issued by the Canada Revenue Agency. Canada requires a Business Number to set up an import-export account. Once you provide us with your company information, we can usually set up your account on the same business day.

You can submit your information in three ways. For the fastest service, call us toll free at 1 (800) 531-5316 and a customer service representative will help you set up your account over the phone. Second, you can sign up for an account online; after submitting your business information, you will receive an e-mail notifying you when your account is approved (usually within the same business day). Finally, you can also fax us your Business Number and other business information at 1 (888) 531-5316 along with your first order - click here to download a copy of MMA International's order form.

To obtain a Business Number, you can call the Canada Revenue Agency at 1 (800) 959-5525, or you can register for a Business Number online at the Canada Revenue Agency website by clicking here.

Will I Have To Pay Duties and Taxes on My Order?

Yes, you will be required to pay all applicable duties and taxes when you receive your shipment. This payment is not made to MMA International, and these charges will not appear on your MMA invoice.

The amount of duty you owe will depend on the type of merchandise you import. MMA International is not able to calculate your duty charge. Please refer to the Canada Border Services Agency's Customs Tariff website for a complete list of product categories and duty rates.

Canadian taxes will also be applied when you receive your order. This will include the Goods and Services Tax (GST), which is collected at the border at the same time as applicable duty. According to the Canada Revenue Agency, "if you are registered for the GST/HST and the importer... you may claim an input tax credit for the tax you paid on the imported goods." Please click here for information from the Canada Revenue Agency as to how the GST applies to imports. Provincial Sales Tax (PST) may also apply.

MMA International is not able to calculate the taxes you may owe or provide tax advice. If you have questions about what taxes will apply, please contact the Canada Revenue Agency or a local tax expert.

Does My Order Qualify for USMCA Tariff Treatment?

Only certain goods that originate in the United States, Canada, or Mexico qualify for USMCA's favorable tariff rates. To qualify, goods must meet the strict terms of the USMCA agreement - not all items manufactured in the United States or another USMCA country qualify as "originating goods" under the agreement. The items in MMA International's Silver Stars Collection are produced in the United States, Mexico, and more than 10 other countries around the world. Therefore, some items will qualify for USMCA tariff treatment, but others will not. To determine whether a specific item qualifies for USMCA tariff treatment, please ask your customer service representative or click here to download a list of USMCA eligible items.

What Are My Payment Options?

All international shipments must be prepaid. You may pay with a credit card - we accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express - or you may submit your payment via wire transfer. If you choose to pay by wire transfer, please call us at 1 (800) 531-5316 to get the necessary bank information.

What Shipping & Brokerage Rates Will Apply to My Order?

We charge a $50 fee when you place your order. Once your order has been processed we will email you the final amount and adjust your invoice accordingly. Rate will vary depending on final delivery destination, box weight and value.

This shipping charge will be paid to MMA International, and it will appear on your invoice. There may also be additional FedEx disbursement fees and/or other FedEx fees that may apply when your merchandise clears customs.

An additional fee for remote locations may apply for shipping to certain remote locations in Canada, as classified by FedEx. Delivery may take longer depending on your location.

Does This Shipping Rate Include Customs Brokerage Fees?

Yes, customs brokerage through FedEx is provided free along with your air shipping charge. As noted above, however, this shipping rate does not include duties, Canadian taxes (GST and PST), or additional FedEx fees that may be due when you receive your shipment.

What If There Is a Problem With My Order?

If you receive your order and an item is defective please contact us right away. Email us at mmasilver@mmasilver.com with the invoice number, product number and description of problem. After 15 days all sales are final.

FedEx has an outstanding delivery record, but should you not receive your order on time, please contact us immediately. Any claim of missing merchandise must be made within 10 days of the date of the invoice. By placing your order, you commit to paying all duties, taxes, disbursement fees, and other applicable charges associated with importing the goods into Canada. MMA International will not refund your purchase price if you choose not to accept the goods at customs or fail to pay applicable charges.
